Player ratings vs Worcester
« on: Sunday 17-Feb-2019, 08:28* »
The first of what will be a regular set of posts. Nothing gets people disagreeing more than opinion! All are based on watching from the south stand and no replays or stats.

Marler - 7.5. Solid in scrum and some crunching tackling
Crumpton - 7. Decent throwing at line out. No issue at scrums and started the game very fiesty. Always looks a bit lost when finding himself in space with ball in hand.
Collier - 6.5. Solid in scrum. A few tackles.
Horwill - 7. The line our works so much better when he plays
Symons- 7. Adds such bulk. Some decent ball carrying.
Robshaw - 8. Everywhere. Lots of turnovers. Lots of tackling.
Clifford - 8. Our most used ball carrier. Dynamic and powerful.
Dombrant- 6. Least impactful game of the season for our young English/Welsh giant.
Care - 7.5. Been on great form this season. Box kicking much improved. Much quieter second half.
Smith - 7.5. Kicked conversions well and go forward strong. Tactical kicking remains mixed.
Tapui- 6.5. Didn’t add too much in broken play. Doesn’t always draw defenders before passing.
Marchant- 7. Livewire. Always solid in defence
Gabs - 7. Bundle of energy. Strong running. Clueless in defensive positioning.
Earles- 7. Always threatening with pace.
Brown - 7. Wants to join every attack. Not always great at finding teammates.

Thoughts?

I thought Donbrandt did better than that - 7/7.5 - he also got around the pitch and got his hands dirty rather than careering around the pitch. Gabs perhaps a bit less than you say for his positional play and lack of tackling - which blighted quite a few players in mid field and out wide. Also thought Tapuai better than you suggest - his line for the try was a beauty...

Why have you chosen to name yourself after an existing CAW poster?

Brown? ...... Time to move on!

Actually hadn’t noticed as my learned colleague has. So you’ve created this log in with another user’s name to “call me out” (hahahahaha) and post other nonsense.

Why?

I'd give Earle 7.5. Gets through a huge amount of work, technically very sound and always a threat.

Same for Symonds. An absolute pest to the opposition, a big unit that gets through lots of the dirty work.

Harsh rating for Collier. I thought he had a very good game and was making 2-3 yards consistently when carrying into heavy traffic.

Jammy - I suspect I am the same named other poster - different IP address. Was the same name on the old forum.

Bulcher - well done for jumping on this. What a winner you are. Back to your lonely trolling pal.

Zandini - no. I'm referring to "QuinKong", who is not the long term poster "Quin Kong", who posted on another thread pointing out that the troll was trying to fake his identity.

Ah. Sincere apologies. I believe our quins based troll made the same error as me.

Thanks for doing the ratings. I haven't seen the game yet but it sounded lively.

On a slightly different note, if DOK is reading this: will you be resurrecting your old vote system?

Yes, I kind of got out the habit - but I should do for Premiership matches. Watch this space
