Just watching Ireland vs Scotland.
(Scotland are getting badly beaten up! They just can;t cope with Ireland's power.)
Ireland's first try with the ball bouncing back in field off of the post protector giving them a 5 metre scrum I'm led to wonder about the post protector ad the rules around them. I felt very sorry for Scotland because by rights that ball should have gone dead, but the 3 foot wide post protector gets in the way. We've seen before trys scored when there is no hope for the defenders to defend the front of the posts.
Perhaps they should make the post protectors out of different (slimmer) material. If it's possible to make motorcycle armour that is a few mm thick and protects joints from impact with the ground at 70mph then I'm sure that sort of material would protect the players from impact with the posts. Or does World Rugby need to look at the laws regarding the posts. If the ball hits the posts should it be regarded as a dead ball? If the attacker grounds it against the post should it be a scrum 5 to the attackers?

Very clever, but as I said the ball would have gone dead had posts not got in the way....

That's why I say they should change the protection of the posts to be slimmer so that they don't get in the way....
