PREMIERSHIP RUGBY HAVE CONFIRMED HARLEQUINS’ GALLAGHER PREMIERSHIP FIXTURES FOR THE NEW SEASON, BEGINNING WITH AN AWAY MATCH AGAINST LAST SEASON’S FINALISTS EXETER CHIEFS.
Quins will kick-off their 2019/20 Gallagher Premiership campaign at Sandy Park on Saturday 19th October (kick-off: 15:00), in a delayed start to the league campaign due to the Rugby World Cup in Japan.
The team will then return to south west London for their first home league match of the season on Saturday 26th October against Bristol Bears (kick-off: 15:00) – a fixture in which Quins secured a try-scoring bonus point last year.
In Round 3, Quins head to Franklin’s Gardens to face Northampton Saints on Friday 1st November (kick-off: 19:45, live on BT Sport).
Next up, the squad head back to The Stoop to play Worcester Warriors in Round 4 of the competition on Saturday 9th November (kick-off: 15:00), another team Quins defeated at home in last year’s campaign.
Following the European Champions Cup fixtures, Harlequins will welcome Gloucester Rugby to The Stoop on Sunday 1st December (kick-off: 15:00, live on BT Sport) looking to avenge their home defeat to the Cherry and Whites in the tournament during the 18/19 season.
After another two weeks of continental action, the squad head to the Ricoh Arena to face Wasps in Round 6 on Saturday 21st December (kick-off: 15:00).
Following their trip to the Midlands, the Londoners head home and will make their customary trip across the A316 to Twickenham Stadium to face Leicester Tigers in Big Game 12 on Saturday 28th December (kick-off: 16:30, live on BT Sport).
Then, in Round 8, Harlequins will travel to the North West to face Sale Sharks at the AJ Bell on Friday 3rd January (kick-off: 19:45, also live on BT Sport).
Commenting on the fixtures announcement, Head of Rugby Paul Gustard said: “Having begun our pre-season preparations on-site this week, excitement is already building in the squad and the release of the new campaign’s fixtures has amplified the focus and anticipation amongst the group.
“We achieved some promising advancements on and off the field last season, and we are striving to build on those and move on up.
“Over the summer, we have made some unbelievably exciting additions to our group. They are all good people and will add significant value, and I look forward to their contribution in the 2019/20. We believe in ourselves, in who we are, in our purpose, and most importantly in the players we have which means we simply can’t wait to rip in and take another step forward as a team and as a Club."
Dates and kick-off times for Rounds 9 to 22 are still subject to change with European, Premiership Rugby Cup and Premiership Rugby Shield fixtures still to be announced.
