I don’t think Kyle will be going anywhere at the moment as Quins turned down saints offer to buy out the remainder of the 18 months he has left on his current contract

"Deepthroat" strikes again...

They may have offered a player swap instead of a buyout: give us Kyle and we'll give you two players in return.
Not sure who they've got that we would want - Lawes and Ribbans, perhaps?

But we know they offered a buy out coz arniepie works for the club.

The way I would read it, "Buy out" doesn't necessarily mean purely financial compensation - it just means a deal to allow termination of the contract without paying penalties. I'm just looking at a way Saints could realistically have offered a deal without creating an enormous salary cap headache.

I think any such deal would have to be looked at by the Celery Cap commissioner (or whatever his title is) to ensure that the letter and spirit of the Cap rules is maintained. You could make a case that this would mean that *both* clubs were effectively buying the remainder of the contracts out, so they would be counted as part of the salary cap for both clubs.

They may be losing Thomas Francis to one of the Welsh provinces so that might make some sense.

I really hope not anyway.

Tombuckquin there is no more to this story as Quins turned down the buyout offer and Kyle will be at Quins for the remainder of his contract, after that I couldn’t tell you what will happen, anything to do with Exeter is a complete non story

I gather he was very disillusioned under JK, but is now back in the fold. Quins don't want to lose him and won't as he's tied down. I think the Exeter comment was intended as a joke.
