Does anyone seemingly see a future at Quins?

I can understand that he’s never getting a Boks cap, money and lifestyle great in France.

But again it cannot be just cash flow, I think there is a real problem somewhere and players looking to move on.

Clearly there is a problem behind the scenes.

Second highest season ticket costs, fans demand and deserve success on the field and they are overall failing.

I don't see why these rumours mean there must be an issue behind the scenes

Care - probably retiring
Marler - probably retiring
Wev - won't play for England, lots more cash in France
Lennox - if rumours are true, he'll probably earn more than 3x his current salary. Plenty of time left in his career to come back and try to get capped
Herbst, if true - presumably not on a big wage here and could get more cash in France
Jibulu - the most gutting one - sounds like it's down to money. This is the hardest to stomach

If all of those rumoured to be off do go, the team is fine.
1. Baxter 2. Walker 3. Titi
4. Dino 5. Lewis
6. CCS 8. Dombrandt 7. Ken
9. Porter 10. Smith
12. Northmore 13. Beard
11. Murley 15. Green 14. Isgro

17. Els 16. Riley 18. Lewis
19. Hammond
20. Chisholm
21. Friday? 22. Evans
23. David/Cleaves/Joseph

Weak points there are (maybe) 12, 17, 2nd row (assuming Lewies will be injured 90% of the season), and 21.

Northmore is not a 12. We’ve never, ever won a game he’s been 12 at for a start, and all of his qualities are nullified with him there. By all means he can play 12, we just would be fighting for the right who finished second or third from bottom

Riley has been injured according to Quins, which explains his sudden absence

with the potential leavers, plus increase in salary cap you would think there would be some good money to spend...
Think we absolutely need to prioritise a big 12. Bradley could be good but is untested and Northmore is a 13.
Get a big 12 and a back up loosehead and i think we will have a good squad.

Having said that, i am yet to be convinced by Titi at 3...

Agree, Northmore mustn't be our main 12. Signing a 12 has to be a priority. Not too concerned about hooker as long as Walker, Riley, and Musk/Head stay.

This is not massively surprising stat though is it?

We had a bloke called Andre playing at 12 for the last few seasons. (Remember him?)
Andre was the first choice 12 and if fit, was a guaranteed starter - so,  Luke tended to get pushed to 13 or the wing.

To compound it, Luke had a few injury issues over the last few seasons. So, if you look at:

1. Games where we won over the last few seasons - Then you are cutting half the games.
2. Games where Andre wasn't fit - You are now getting down to a small pool of games
3. Games where Taps wasn't available - Reduces games
4. Games where Jones wasn't available - Reduces games further
3. Games where Luke was at full fitness. You are now down to a small pool of games

From memory he has done well when coming on from the bench - e.g. in games where Andre took a knock.

Out of interest - how many times has he started at 12?

I think the recruitment outcomes over the close season show we have a few significant financial issues.  No real surprise that we can’t keep the squad we have as it’s one of the biggest.  Also no real surprise that players are looking to leave if they can get loads more money elsewhere.  We follow a minority sport that has lived beyond its means for too long.  Suspect whoever has the most productive academy will do best over the coming seasons - and we are decent in that sense - but all prem clubs are in danger of simply becoming a stepping stone to a big move abroad regardless of international ambitions.

This looks like the salary cap working as intended - even if it sucks that we're losing players we would like to keep.

If we're a stepping stone for players moving to France then so be it. It's up to our league to fix its own financial issues.

Bit of over reaction re leavers imo. Much is still only rumours and if they do turn out true, id wait until we know who the replacements are before panicking. We spend up to the cap, we know that. I dont think you can say there is any evidence that we have financial issues or that something is going on behind the scenes.  Its a short career, players will take all the money they can get and good luck to them. Who wouldnt switch jobs to double/treble their money, no matter how settled or content you are currently.
