My OP was written in haste whilst highly frustrated with the cancellation email I had just received from Zeelo at very short notice. Perhaps I should have waited before posting. And no, shouty RHETORICK, of course I do not expect a coach to be run with just me on board. But thanks for asking.
I don’t particularly care if other people attend home games, away games, or no games. It’s entirely up to them. Nothing to do with me.
Personally, I enjoy attending away games. I like to support my team when I can. The chance of losing away may be higher but the chance of winning at home is often unfortunately somewhat debatable too: the expected result has nothing to do with my decision to attend a game. Each to their own, and again, nothing to do with me.
I do however find it somewhat sad that as one of the biggest clubs in the country we do not have a way of encouraging people to provide support to our team at away games. I think we may be missing a trick.
Coach trips are not perfect. There will always be people who prefer to use their own mode of transport and for some it is understandably not practical to get to a pickup point. However, travel by car is not great if you enjoy a few beers on matchday and travel by train is often cumbersome and/or expensive.
The target should be thirty quid or so for a return trip to an away game on a coach. To ensure popularity there needs to be 1) trips to plenty of away fixtures and 2) an understanding that once you have paid for your seat it will not be cancelled.
Quinssa did a great job previously but Zeelo are a proven disaster.
Perhaps the club should own and underwrite away trips for supporters?
