I agree. Up until now, we seem to be less than the sum of our parts. It’s not solely down to the front row, but I’d have expected Jones to get more out of Marler, Sinckler, Collier etc.

Louw is definitely more of a scrummaging prop than Sinckler was so I’d be curious to see how much of a difference that makes, but I’d argue Collier is a well-regraded technical scrummager which didn’t make an obvious difference when he played.

We have needed a full time, experienced forwards coach since 2013.  Once JK moved up, our pack has deteriorated - even though the personnel are arguably better now.  We muck about with line coaches and scrum coaches but we need someone to implement a plan for the forwards in its entirety and then deliver it.  Coaches for specific set pieces are a luxury until you have someone directing the forwards.  Getting Booth in seemed like we’d finally accepted that but now we have a massive whole again.  Maybe Flannery will take it on...

Yeah liking the thought of a young and up & coming forwards coach who has some radical ideas about how you can use your pack effectively in the modern game, even if they were from the SH. No one's immediately springing to mind though...
