I hope the club, assign a guy to oversee the current group. To challenge, bring new ideas and to provide a sounding board.

It’s a very CoS role, but it’s what is required.
The current setup requires the steady hand on the tiller, happy with Millward, or similar.
It doesn’t need to be a name, we don’t want a guy that changes the current set up, but adds to it.
Complement, not change.


And accept that the current squad and coaching group are PG’s. He was doing some things right, in the building, but things move on and this current run is great, but tougher times ahead await.

Look at Exeter, they were the second best team for a good few years, hard noses were required to keep building. This is year 1, project zero.

The Kiwis aren't really prone to making sudden decisions on their head coach. Foster'll be in place for a while yet.

........ when we hit a dip in form we'll need authoritative and tough decision-making. This won't come from a player leadership group or from coaches who are best mates. We need a hardnosed DoR to make unpopular decisions and to shoulder the abuse from short-memoried fans.

We also need someone to protect the players from each other - all rosy at the moment but Lord of the Flies beckons when it becomes someone's 'fault' for upcoming losses. And some of our squad are a lot less patient than others.

He is a winner, just not sure he wins in the way some fans would like.  Me, trophies would ease the burden of watching a "duller" rugby for sure.  Winning will become a habit and hopefully he would set the basis for a successful spell.

I would expect a quality DoR to develop a style of rugby that suits the players at their disposal. We're not south Africa so I wouldn't expect him to make us copy their approach.
