I reckon in the 10 years I've been watching Quins that JTH/Lowe was our best centre pairing.  JTH to crash it up, draw 2 or 3 defenders and make space for Lowe outside.  Just because you knew what was coming doesn't mean you could stop it.  They could both defend as well.

Lasike/Marchant looks similar.  If we ever get some decent gametime out of Saili then we'll have a few options for the first time in a while.

It’ll be interesting to see how Gustard lines up our centre pairings. Lasike could work well either inside Marchant or outside Saili, the latter could could be something else if Lasike can track Saili’s half breaks. Would also be interesting to see him on the wing outside Saili/Marchant.

In the YT vids he doesn't look anywhere near quick enough for wing.

He looks like an out-and-out 12 to me.

Yeah. In the video that Adrian posted Lasike refers to himself playing "Second Five". In other words, Second Five Eighth, the NZ term for Inside centre. I guess he could move out to 13 if needed, but he's definitely a 12 first & foremost.

.. and he describes himself in the welcome interview as a "second five" (eighth).

Haven't seen enough of him to know if he's got a kicking game. Ma'a Nonu developed a good kicking game, in my opinion. Funny, I generally never think about the kicking game of an "inside centre", but call him "a second five-eighth" and it comes immediately to mind.

It's weird but watching him run he has the same sort of profile as JTH (but taller) and picks very similar lines to Roberts. Hopefully not just superficial similarities, and hopefully an astute signing. Welcome to the club!

This feels like really good news. With Jamie Roberts gone it seemed like we were lacking in physicality, especially in defence. But this guy looks the business.  With Marchant, Tapuai, Saili and Laske we finally have real quality options in the centres. Well done the club for nailing our man. Welcome to Quins Paul.

Feeling more positive about the new season now. COYQ!!

I think its a great signing , sort of player that will get the Stoop jumping with some crash ball  and thumping tackles  .

I love the fact that he clearly didn't have a Scooby who Quins were , but asked a few mates and here he is , no pretences .... Run Forrest !

He can certainly tackle! What are Kennedy's reservations about his defence?

Worth a punt but nothing more than that (in my opinion)

At the moment I'll just be happy if he's better than Stanley.

Looks like an inexperienced replacement for Jamie Roberts from NFL and USA rugby.

A seemingly good acquisition but time will tell.......

Does Lasike make Quins a top 6 club???
