What an amusing pile of horse dung this review of the Sussex is. It is comfortably the best pub in Twickenham for ale and cider as well as not being massively overpriced like the Albert and Blucher. Used to be hard to get served as it was so busy, but they’ve sorted that with a small outside bar. Not sure what the problem with the vinyl is, but it’s an eclectic selection.

As SiB says, the Prince of Wales is another excellent option. More roomy as it’s a short walk out of town, but AJ’s Kitchen has the best food around. Also up that way and worth a visit is The Rifleman on Fourth Cross Road. Good beer and the rugby will take precedence over football (they send football viewers round the corner to the PoW).

I think you deliberately misunderstand every post I write.

The whole point is how good the Sussex is.

All those things are reasons it’s good.

You do get some boring old fashioned crusty Camra bores in there - but mainly it’s younger and much more interesting.

One small additional point - there isn’t a small outside bar at the Sussex.

Great beer just a long wait to get one yesterday.

My favourite pub is the Sussex, but do appreciate the 15% Quins membership discount in the Blucher, especially because you don't need to buy food. Also the Bloomsbury shows the rugby and gets a great atmosphere.

That's singing its praises. Where do i say any of those things are bad? It was in answer to the poster who always claims it's "tweedy" "string-backed driving glove" old man pub. It's not.
