Premiership Rugby Cup Final
« on: Sunday 08-Mar-2020, 09:17* »
Given the postponement of the England game next weekend, will both teams have their England players available, or is there some rule which doesn’t allow it?

What a helpful and constructive reply.

I would imagine that the players will be released, whether or not they are given a rest would be up to the club's or the irb disaplinary panel in a certain someone's case.

Deadly there is no need for that. The point of a forum is to discuss possibilities and people here may have info others may not have found out. If all we do when questions are asked is respond with ring the club then it makes forums a hollow place and Quins supporters a very unwelcoming bunch.

I always thought that the following were accepted replies to any posting on this board:

You are nicksb and I claim my £5

JK must go

Were gonna get mullered

We should have enough to see that lot off

Even if available I can't imagine we'd pick them.

Gussy on the pre-match was asked about Marker for the cup final, basic response was if he's not banned then he's in the picture.

Sale will put out their first team as that is what they have all through.

So should we

Why bother? It's a Mickey Mouse competition. Why don't we just send out a team filled with "guest players" as we do for the silly A-League, which is also completely pointless?

If some miracle were to happen at Sale next Sunday (and after today's dire performance that's never going to happen is it? We'll be whacked by 40 points whatever side we put out, so might as well rest players) then all that would happen is the club would be crowing about "nice to get our hands on some silverware" (as it if was a meaningful achievement).

By that thinking, we should plough absolutely everything into winning next weekend as the premiership is pointless this year as there is no relegation.

Re-watch today's game. We were a combination of poor and unlucky in the first half. Give some credit to Bristol. Their first try was very good.
We were far better than Bristol in the second half.

Why bother?

Probably because it’s silverware and most likely the only bit we can get this season
That being said, don’t think we have much hope at Sale

Mind you said that last week against Chiefs

There are three trophies available to win at the start of the season. We have a reasonable chance of winning one of them even if it’s the lowest. We are in the final but to some it’s pointless in which case all games are pointless because there is a good chance we might lose. In fact why bother with any rugby at all as basically it’s just a game of no importance that we will probably lose.
I don’t understand why trying to win one of the cups is not important for the club and supporters. It’s why we watch and why they play.
