It is a very interesting debate. I personally do not tend to boo a decision (although I might get angry etc...), with the decision mainly being discussed again I did not boo and this was mainly due to what my knowledge of the rules was (this has since been called into question and there does not seem to be any definitive answer)

As far as I was aware a player is (unfortunately) allowed to run any line they like when they are supporting a team-mate in possession. However if they do decide to change direction (which I thought was allowed even multiple times) they must not make contact otherwise it is at that point a penalty offence.

As far as I am aware that was the very discussion that was happening between ref and TMO and also the commentators on BT Sport. The decision was then made that contact was made and therefore penalty, but at the time I certainly could not have said for certain that he had made contact while I watched live from the east stand so I had assumed that it was a legitimate try.

I have to say I was very happy it ended up going to the TMO and that it was changed and it would have been interesting to see if that would have happened without the booing. I personally would like to think that it would have as the TMO was clearly checking anyway (as they are meant to always do) but that might just be my overly optimistic view  ;D

We need an amalgam of the passion of football and the manners/control of rugby. I want us louder, more vociferous, and yes, maybe a bit more in the ref's face on 50/50 decisions but... no swearing, nothing that stops supporters mingling and enjoying the match together, certainly no intimidation. There's a guy near me never agrees with the ref's decisions and let's him know at full volume (no, it's not prof!). But honestly, he doesn't worry me, I just smile at some of his absurd claims. We'll occasionally try the hopeful "forward" cry on a pass, but it's only worked once to my knowledge.

Agreed. I believe I experienced this chap once when he criticised a ref's decision to award a penalty. I asked him what he thought it was for and why he didn't agree (as I thought the ref was 100% correct) and he had no idea what the decision was. He only knew that he disagreed with any referee penalising us. Made me laugh.

I always thought it didn't matter if there was a touch or not but rather an opposition player intentionally preventing a player from tackling or attempting to tackle which is granted open for different interperations, as such I thought it was awarded because Brew monitored Earle's movements and reacted to move into different support lines to stop Earle having the opportunity to tackle back.

Well if we can boo, the players can tease us back surely?

Couple of points on that deadly , I don't think the booing was aimed at the individual , more at the injustice of the situation , but if players are encouraged to wind up opposition supporters it can only end up with ugly scenes .

My comment on Roberts was really about the way he seemed to conduct himself throughout the match , looking up into the stands and punching the air when Bath scored in an exaggerated manner,  pointing at the Bath supporters in the N stand and bouncing his hands up and down to encourage them to make noise when Quins scored and so on , at one point the Bath fans started a 'Come on you Barf' chant , which is fine , but he turned and mock applauded !-  I have no problem with  a player showing passion for his team I was just surprised that I had never seen that when he played for us , so he was clearly being 'an angry young man' for whatever reason .

Ive spoken to Jamie Roberts on 3 occasions and always found him to be a gent , so it seemed quite out of character and unnecessary  which is why it was noticeable .

I didn't hear any boos for him , and if there were any it wasn't on the scale that we heard for  Marland Yarde .

Hopefully he has got that out of his system  and he'll be happier next time !

Well if its true that he was pushed rather than jumping from us it may explain his attitude a little. Still don't see why a player can't interact with the crowd tbh, even though that is a bit football I guess....

Gomarsall used to interact with the crowd and encourage support, if I remember right.

He did, and especially during the A games.

I've no problem with players encouraging the crowd (obviously) - it's goading the home fans of a team you've left very recently which doesn't sit right.

I'm sure he gives to local charities, helps old ladies across the road and is a gentle and generous lover, but his conduct during the game was dodgy.

Well he's got rough hands but he knows how to use them.

I want the stoop to be an intimidating place to go for the oppo.  Nothing wrong with a bit of passion and one eyedness (not a word I know) as long as soon as the game is over it is forgotten and we have a beer and chat to the oppo fans.
