Bath's confidence is on the floor. If they go down a try or two in the first half, it could be a cricket score.

Lets hope we play to our strengths this game and start with Loius Lynagh, we need his game breaking ability on the outside. Northmore is a center as is Marchant, play wingers where they can actually change the game.

Agree. start of last season we had real issues with this before seemingly rectifying those issues, however last week we struggled. Was the only area we could justify being "outmuscled".

If we keep our discipline, there's no reason we shouldn't get all 5 points.

I think a lot of tries around the GP were scored from rolling mauls last week so what has changed?

I'm glad it's not just me that noticed that last week. I think the coaches blinked in not choosing Lynagh from the start and then not bringing him on at 55 or 60 minutes. It felt that keeping Murley and Northmore there for their defensive capabilities rather than attacking, at that point.

It was also clear that DC was being outplayed by Quirke and rather than running his own game, was trying to negate his presence.

Back to basics this week, they will target our maul defence which has been excellent since the beginning of 2021 so back to that approach please.

Let's just say a bad day at the office last week across the board and move on.

Yes, there is a lot of talk in the media and in the game about Sale's abrasive style and it probably became a big deal in the players' minds, which meant that they didn't let their natural game flow. Sale did their job well, to be fair (through gritted teeth!!!)

I also think that Lynagh needs to be back in on Saturday. There was a conversation on another thread about what to do about Northmore. I now think he may end up on the bench for this game, with the recognition that the 13 shirt will be his from the Sarries game onwards, while Marchant is away. We will see in a few hours!

Bath surely won't be as bad as last week.

Re: Sale - they're a good side and few teams will win up there this season. It was frustrating to come close but an LBP would be generallt what I'd expect from that fixture.

Can’t remember the last time either of us won at the other’s ground.

I know Tabs said Quins’ last win at the AJ Bell was 2015 and I’d guess we haven’t won at the Stoop in a similar amount of time.

The thing about the Sale game is that despite coming up against a team that had the ideal squad and strategy to negate Quins, we were still in with a chance of winning it late in the game and could still have done so if a couple of close calls had gone the other way.

More importantly, it was a game Quins could afford to lose and it showed where the weak spots in our game plan were. Sanderson has said that there was a deliberate plan to get a breakdown operator close to the tackle to jackal before the ball could be placed back, and it looked to me that it was the root cause of a lot of Quins' problems. I hope the coaches will have analysed this and be looking at how we can adjust.

Im almost certain Bath won't play as poorly as last week, so on that basis we cannot be complacent. They are ultimately one week closer to their first win, and ideally they will still be looking for it after this weekend, but lets not discount their team, because it has a lot of class operators.

I like the look of their pack, and their front row are no slouches.

I think this will be a very close contest and we need to be mindful we don't get sucked into an arm wrestle, as that isn't our strength (Compare Bristol to Sale). I think Bath would look at Sales approach and replicate that, rather than trying to play an expansive game which they know will suit us.

Which makes it all the more surprising that they've gone for Lawday (a generalist backrower) over Wallace (a specialist openside)?
