We need players for these matches and it's hard to get hold of them at this point, but players who are not needed by Dragons and Connacht are probably not going to manage much.

I suspect we'll see more of this when we reduce our squad size - and realistically it's to have 15 v 15 in training for the Prem Cup blocks of games. One or two might sneak onto the bench every now and then, but mostly you'd think they're there to make up the numbers (no disrespect meant by that).

I'd expect the pack to get battered, honestly. Second best from 1-8.
Perhaps not

ComeAllWithin Board / Re: Will it be Michael Cheika?

The title of this thread puts me in mind of a song...

When we were short a DoR
We asked Neil Fissler, "Who will it be?"
"Will it be Cheika? Will it be Dave?"
And he wrote this in RP

"Quins será, será
Whatever will be, will be
The future's not ours to see
Quins será, será
What will be, will be"

Now we know Razor needs a job
Easter or Tofty, who could it be?
"Could it be Browny? How about Wayne?"
Who else will Laurie see?

"Quins será, será
Whatever will be, will be
The future's not ours to see
Quins será, será
What will be, will be"

Whoever gets the role we know
Won't find it easy, how could that be?
"Will we get mullered? Or see that lot off?"
Will their plan reach year three?

"Quins será, será
Whatever will be, will be
The future's not ours to see
Quins será, será
What will be, will be"

That's a pretty good side. They could give the main side a decent run for their money.

He wanted to return to Australia to be closer to his family. Twickenham is marginally closer Australia than Leicester but I don’t see him wanting to be back in the UK

I can't imagine Cheika in a month of blue moons.

He was the Leinster coach for Bloodgate.
I don't think anyone has taken a defeat worse than when Quins won in Cardiff against Stade in 2011.
He's been on the record that he doesn't like coaching against clubs that he's previously managed (turned down the Reds for that very reason) and he's only just left England as his family are based in Oz.
As well as that, he's become a short term fixer, when we need someone with something resembling a medium term plan (maybe not 3 years, but I trust you know what I mean)

The 2 Kiwis have had plenty of write ups in other publications, so feel a bit more concrete. If Rennie gets an offer with The All Blacks, then he's obviously picking them.
Razor might be too expensive or have a desire for a break.

Easter and Mapletoft feels like Fissler's shilling for their agents/his sources, but I do worry it'll be someone uninspiring in that range with the way things are going.

We might not have the luxury of a medium/long term appointment. Frankly, I'd rather have Cheika for a season or two then bet on Mapletoft or Easter as DOR. Look at the bounce Cheika gave Tigers.

Cheika as DOR with Easter as Head Coach and primed to takeover would work for me.

Razor feels like the best fit in terms of playing style, but he's not coached in the Northern Hemisphere before so arguably slightly more risky than a Cheika or Rennie. And as you say, might be out of our price range.

Let's see how it unfolds but I'd be disappointed if it's Mapletoft or Easter. We need a proven DOR.
